You can smell great mulled cider long before you taste it. Having a pot of apple cider on fills the air with the spicy aroma of allspice, cinnamon, and cloves that make it easy to understand why the spice traders traveled half way across the globe. This mulled apple cider recipe is simple to make, worth drinking all winter long, and is an easy treat to put out at parties during the holidays.
Assemble the spices, slightly crushing the cardamom pods to open them up a little, along with the orange peel and place them in a tea strainer or tie them up in cheesecloth.
Pour the cider into a large crock pot, add your container with spices, and turn the heat up to high for an hour.
After you've steeped the spices in the cider for an hour turn the heat down to low. Serve the mulled cider warm in mugs.
