Trying to predict food trends can be a tricky business. Each year food writers peer into their crystal balls and try to predict this year’s kale or Greek yogurt and avoid picking horseradish lollipops as the next big thing.

The past few weeks, I’ve been reading every prediction I can find, distilling them down to All the Food Trends You Need to Know About for 2017.  Want to know what this year’s It vegetable is going to be, the dishes all your friends are going to be talking about, or what type of cuisine the hot new restaurant around the corner is going to be serving?  Click on the link, take a read, and I bet you’ll be surprised.

If you love paella, and how can you not, we’ve got a real treat for you with A Spanish Chef’s Secrets for the Perfect Paella.  It’s a great interview with Chef Joan Casas, who estimates that he’s made over 100,000 paellas since he opened his restaurant.  Chef Casas was even nice enough to share his paella recipe with us.

If you’re looking for a truly lovely dessert, try making Persimmon Pudding.  Persimmon pudding is a traditional dessert full of warm fall flavors and a creamy texture that feels like eating the moistest cake you’ve ever had.

With the Super Bowl coming up next week, we’ve got a few of our favorite party foods.  The first is a simple Caramelized Onion White Bean Dip that is a delicious and healthy appetizer.  We also have a Classic Smoked Salmon Dip that is a little less healthy but equally delicious.

And what would the Super Bowl be without some Hickory Smoked Chicken Wings, possibly the perfect big game food.  Think about it, you can eat them with your hands, and if someone gets really mad at the game and throws one at the TV, they’re small enough to bounce off.

We also have a simple homemade guacamole full of fresh, bright flavors that will be gone about ten minutes after you put it out.

We’re going to finish up with a great way to start your morning.  Our new Strawberry Raspberry Smoothie recipe uses strawberries, raspberries, and Greek yogurt to create a thick smoothie packed with good stuff to get you going.

Looking ahead, we’ve got a tasty biscuit recipe on its way, along with a fascinating story about a couple who are bringing back traditional grains and a brand new series that is so top secret I don’t even know what it’s called yet.

Thanks as always for reading and sharing, Umami!
