Gin Smash with Orange

Gin Smash with Orange

By Mark Hinds | Updated January 23, 2026

The gin smash with orange is a refreshing cocktail with a hint of orange and mint to cool off and brighten up a hot summer day.ย  This is one of those easy drinking gin cocktails that you can sip all day long.

Smashes are easy-drinking cocktails that get their name from the mint or other accouterments getting “smashed up” or bruised by the ice during the shaking process.

We recommend using 1 part sugar to 1 part simple syrup for this cocktail. If you like your drink a little sweet, use 1-1/2 oz of simple syrup. For this recipe, a sprig of mint is four or five leaves.
