We like to use a 1 to 1 ratio with our simple syrup

They don’t call it simple syrup because it’s hard to make.

Simple syrup is a staple ingredient in many cocktail recipes and is essential to keep on hand if you like mixing cocktails at home.

In general, we like to use a 1 to 1 ratio when we’re making simple syrup

Simple syrup is done when the liquid turns clear
The simple syrup is done when the sugar has been completely dissolved

The simple syrup is done when the sugar is completely dissolved in the liquid. After it’s dissolved it can be stored in a small bottle.

Storing simple syrup in a small squeeze bottle makes it easy to work. The syrup should be stored in the fridge and can last for several weeks.

A few cocktails to make with this recipe are Whiskey Smashes and Greyhounds.

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water


  • In a small saucepan, stir the sugar and water together over medium-low heat. Continue stirring until the liquid turns clear.
  • Remove the simple syrup from the heat and let it cool before storing in the fridge.
