Big Ginger Cocktail
The Big Ginger is a delicious cocktail that combines a good, crisp Irish whiskey with the refreshing taste of ginger ale. To lighten the drink up and to add some citrus notes a lemon and lime wedge are invited along.
This is a perfect summer drink when you want to drink all day, but don’t want to act like you’ve been drinking all day.
In our, somewhat, extensive testing, we found the best ratio is 1/3 whiskey to 2/3 ginger ale. We also figured out that the drink gets better with a really good ginger ale, so mix it with your favorite. And while we like to drink it with any good Irish whiskey, it really should be mixed with Two Gingers Irish Whiskey, since the cocktail and the whiskey were both developed by Kieran Folliard, the former proprietor of Kieren’s Irish Pub in Minneapolis.
- 2 oz whiskey
- 4 oz ginger ale
- lime wedge
- lemon wedge
- Fill a tall glass with ice.
- Squeeze a lemon and lime wedge over the ice and drop the wedges into the glass.
- Fill the glass one-third of the way with whiskey, stop and admire your work.
- Fill the rest of the glass with ginger ale.
- Stir, sip, relax
