Tzatziki is a Greek yogurt sauce made with cucumber and garlic. Tzatziki is most commonly known as the sauce on Gyros but is great for lots of other things. Itโ€™s a wonderful appetizer with grilled pita and goes well with roasted or grilled chicken or lamb.

This Tzatziki recipe takes around 10 minutes to make and can be kept in the fridge for a couple of weeks. One of the keys to making Tzatziki delicious is to grate the whole cucumber, including the skin, which adds texture and color to the dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups yogurt
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Instructionsย 

  • Start by washing the cucumber and grating it skin and all. You can use a food processor or a hand grater with large holes. Squeeze the grated cucumber with your hands to drain off the excess water.
  • Mix the cucumber, yogurt, garlic powder, olive oil, and lemon juice together. Serve cold.
