If youโ€™ve wondered about umami the flavor, what it is, what it tastes like, and how it was discovered take a read throughย Everything You Need to Know About Umami. Itโ€™s a deep dive that explores its rich history, the types of ingredients you find it in, and how to use it to make the food you cook taste even more delicious.

Describing what a specific flavor tastes like can be challenging, especially one thatโ€™s found in so many different ingredients and cuisines. Thatโ€™s why we developed a simpleย Umami Taste Test. Itโ€™s an easy way to learn what umami tastes like and how it can be used to enhance a dishโ€™s flavor. The tasting only takes around 15 minutes and is fun to do with a group of food curious friends.

Creamed Corn Close Up
The consistency of the dish should be midway between a thick soup and a custard

After a scorching hot summer, weโ€™re looking forward to some cooler weather and dishes that celebrate the fall harvest. One of our all-time favorites isย Creamed Corn, thick and creamy, made with freshly harvested sweet corn itโ€™s a dish that embodies everything good about fall.ย

The corn is particularly good when itโ€™s paired with something from the smoker, like ourย Smoked Chicken Quarters.ย Smoking the chicken at a low temperature infuses the chicken with flavor and gives it an almost warm buttery texture.

If youโ€™re looking for a few dishes to make this weekend that are simple to cook, healthy to eat, and taste delicious try grilling up someย Turkey Burgersย and pairing them withย Grilled Green Beans with Goat Cheese. The burgers use a touch of BBQ sauce to add flavor to the lean turkey meat while the green beans get their delicious flavor and a slight char from being cooked on the grill.

Blueberry Pie Whipped Cream
We love to serve the pie with some fresh whipped cream

A great way to finish the meal is with aย Homemade Blueberry Pieย that is all about highlighting the flavor of fresh blueberries and a touch of honey.

Thanks as always for reading and sharingย Umami.ย  We greatly appreciate it!

Sincerely,
